Tales of Grimm
Sunday, March 3rd at 3:00 PM, Knox Presbyterian Church
Guest Conductor – Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner
Join the Wellington Wind Symphony for an afternoon of myth, magic, and (kind of) creepy fairy tales! The Canadian Premiere (!) of Bruce Broughton’s monumental, Grimm Tales (with its cast of alluring characters–Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood, Rumpelstiltskin, and the Musicians of Bremen), anchors the program, along with the atmospheric music of German composer, Rolf Rudin (“The Dream of Oenghus”), and the “wildly inventive” Viet Cuong and his “Sound and Smoke.” And, did you know there was a Sousa march about Mother Goose?
Bring the whole family and be musically transported into the land of Grimm!
Boomba!
Sunday, April 28th at 3:00 PM, Knox Presbyterian Church
Artistic Director and Conductor – Dr. Cynthia Johnston Turner
What’s “boomba,” you ask? Is it a new dance craze? Something really, really loud? Well, you’ll have to come to the concert and find out! (Hint: it might involve one or some of us doing something crazy!) This WWS concert is just plain FUN. Kevin Day’s “Havana,” (will there be cigars? Yeah) and Alfred Reed’s beloved, “El Camino Real.” And, would a concert really be ‘fun’ if it didn’t have some John Williams? We think not!
